Technical Papers

Chair: Guy L. Steele Jr., Sun Microsystems Laboratories, papers@oopsla.acm.org

Technical paper presentations discuss new research as well as valuable empirical results in object-oriented languages, systems, and applications. The 26 technical papers were selected after a rigorous peer review of 147 submissions by an international program committee consisting of 25 experts representing various areas of object technology. Each paper was assigned to at least four reviewers. Each paper co-authored by a member of the program committee was assigned to least seven reviewers on the basis of strict anonymity; moreover, such papers were held to a higher standard of review through a specific voting process designed to be auditable by the conference chair. The committee met face-to-face for two days in Chicago, Illinois. While unfortunate unforeseen circumstances (such as illness) prevented a small number of the reviewers from attending in person, for every paper there were at least three reviewers for that paper present at the meeting. Each paper was discussed and judged on novelty and the degree of contribution to object technology. The 26 papers selected for presentation at this conference should advance the state of the art of object technology in significant ways.
