23 IBM WebSphere Studio: New Tools, New Environment and a New Way of Thinking

Tim McCrimmon
IBM, timmc@us.ibm.com

The IBM WebSphere Studio demo will illustrate that WS Studio eliminates the need to use separate tools to build, test, integrate and deploy Java and J2EE applications. In addition, multi-language, multi-platform development is made possible with the Studio environment. Developers of various skill levels can develop applications using WS Studio.

This demo will create a Web service that gives Web users access to employee information that exists on a database. It starts by creating an EJB to access the database and then it generates a Web service based on the EJB. During the course of the demo, several (not all) perspectives from WebSphere Studio Application Developer are used. Some of the key technologies used in WebSphere Studio include Java, J2EE, J2ME, J2SE, SOAP, WSDL, UDDI, XML, HTML, JSPs, Servlets, EJBs, and RSC.
