Learn the basics of Extreme Programming (XP) in a day, without programming. This workshop will use non-programming construction techniques to teach most of the XP practices in a fun and interesting format. It is designed for anyone who has an interest in agile methodologies and XP in particular.
Participants will build a physical artifact in a team in a few iterations using XP practices. It is highly interactive, even chaotic. We begin with an overview of XP practices and finish with a retrospective debriefing of the day's activities. The organizers serve as coaches to the team(s) as they build under the direction of a (participant) customer. The main focus is on the planning game, but most of the practices will be included (pair construction, test first, etc.).
Intended for:
- Managers needing an understanding of XP practices
- Developers wanting a quick start to XP
- Educators and Industry Trainers
