If you are a software professional, your job is changing. Outsourcing and global development affect many things in our work environment: what we build, how and when we communicate, and how we prepare ourselves for the future.
Both create some difficult problems. Some involve long-distance communication and cultural differences, others are from crossing organizational boundaries. For example, how do software interface contracts help or hinder system integration? How can a team in one country extend or maintain software built by developers in another country? We will look for solutions to techniques from object oriented reengineering, component-based design, agile processes, and other ideas from the OO community.
This workshop will appeal to anyone whose job is affected by outsourcing and globalization. People with personal experience and insights into these issues are especially welcome. Participants will present and discuss both social and technical issues that contribute to communications problems.
