Ontologies are a widely discussed topic in many IT communities. This workshop
will focus on ontologies as artifacts in object-oriented software engineering.
We are aware of the bandwidth of discussions about the term "ontology", but in
this workshop we will pragmatically discuss ontologies as artifacts that are
part of software-systems, and/or used to specify, model, or document software
systems. For example, ontologies can be used
- to describe semantics of programming interfaces or to augment interfaces with semantics
- to describe software architectures, or architectural styles
- to describe requirements that are difficult to model with object-oriented languages
- at run time to lookup services
- at development time to check conformance of an implementation against
the intended architecture and architectural style or for ?intelligent? code
completion
The workshop aims at bringing together practitioners and researchers for
lively discussions about the construction and use of ontologies as software
engineering artifacts.
