Student Volunteers

Call for Papers - Due July 2, 2009

The Student Volunteer program is an opportunity for students from around the world to associate with the top people in programming languages, object-oriented technology, research, and software development. Students volunteer a few hours of their time performing tasks that help the conference run smoothly. These tasks include assisting with registration, providing information about the conference to attendees, and monitoring tutorials. In exchange for volunteering, students receive a complimentary full conference registration, free admission to tutorials on a space-available basis, and many other benefits.

We strongly encourage students to become involved with the OOPSLA 2009 Student Volunteer Program.

Student Volunteer Benefits

The OOPSLA Student Volunteer program affords students the opportunity to meet other students and top people working in object-oriented technology, research and software development. In addition, the program provides students with a number of other benefits:

• complementary full conference registration,
• conference proceedings,
• OOPSLA garment (only available to student volunteers),
• admission to tutorials (based on available space), and
• admission to all conference receptions.

A limited number of volunteers may also receive some financial support in return for additional volunteer hours.

Student Volunteer Plan Details

The OOPSLA Student Volunteer program provides three volunteer plans: bronze, silver, and gold. Each of the three plans is described in detail below.

• Bronze Plan - The bronze plan requires the least number of hours from student volunteers and provides all the student volunteer benefits. The bronze plan, however, does not provide any financial support. Typically the bronze plan requires approximately 12 hours¹ of volunteer duties.
• Silver Plan - The silver plan requires more volunteer hours from recipients than the bronze plan and provides all the student volunteer benefits. The silver plan also provides reimbursement to the student volunteer for up to $150 USD of expenses incurred to attend the OOPSLA conference. Typically the silver plan requires approximately 16 hours¹ of volunteer duties.
• Gold Plan - The gold plan requires more volunteer hours from recipients than the silver plan and provides all the student volunteer benefits. The gold plan also provides reimbursement to the student volunteer for up to $500 USD of expenses incurred to attend the OOPSLA conference. Typically the gold plan requires approximately 20 hours¹ of volunteer duties.
