The poster space will be used to display some outcomes of the workshop "The Future of Data-Centric and Information-Centric Computing". The abstract of this workshop is as follows :
Twenty years ago, when the first OOPSLA conference was held, many programming languages and systems were imperative (and algorithm-centric) or object-oriented (and data-centric). With the advent of pervasive computing, new forms of data-centric computing have emerged. Data-centric routing, storage, programming styles and applications are currently being posited and implemented.
The focus of this workshop will be the spectrum between data and information. For example, in most models of sensor nets, we collect and store data but we wish to extract information from the network. This may have profound implications for the way in which we store and structure both sensor nets and the data within them.
This workshop aims to roadmap the future of data-centric and information-centric computing, within the context of applications for pervasive computing. A broad range of concerns, including query languages for information extraction from networks and dissemination algorithms will be covered.
