This is the first day of a two day workshop. (Day two.)
The Eclipse platform (http://www.eclipse.org) is designed for building integrated development environments (IDEs) for object-oriented application development. Building on the success of the OOPSLA 2003 and 2004 Eclipse Technology eXchange workshops, we will again feature presentations and group discussions concerning the use of the Eclipse open source as a code base for teaching and research. The presenters will report on their projects and discuss potential new uses of Eclipse and improved usability of the core Eclipse technology. The workshop will include two panel sessions consisting of leading researchers and educators to discuss the advantages and challenges with using Eclipse in research and education. Technical leaders of the Eclipse community will be available throughout the workshop to participate in the technology exchange.
