The NetBeans Platform is a rich client application framework from which one may construct an application that discovers its components at runtime.  Its module system provides strong dependency management and type-safe mechanisms for plugins to interoperate using well-defined APIs.  The goal of this workshop is to provide an understanding of how the framework works; how to design modular software, and those core NetBeans APIs that facilitate this; and to impart practical knowledge of how to build applications using the core pieces of NetBeans as a framework.
