What are some of the common practices for taking new ideas and converting them into products? Software products often get their start with visionaries, unique individuals who have great ideas but who don't always appreciate all of the barriers to turning the ideas into real products. What is involved in scaling up a prototype? How much reuse is practical? Can frameworks help? Are there pitfalls in outsourcing part of the product development? This workshop will be especially interested in deciding what to do when one part of an organization over-commits and another part of the organization has to deliver -- especially when the features are only specified in prototypes or viewgraphs.
