Web services is a paradigm shift in how businesses share information to create value for customers and developers. In July of 2002, Amazon.com launched V1.0 of Amazon Web Services - a platform that offers direct access via SOAP and XML over HTTP to the best features and content Amazon.com has to offer. By embracing the Web Services model, providing multiple access methods, and coupling it with the Amazon.com Associates program, Amazon has created a platform for innovation and offered a centralized forum for developers and website owners to interact with one another.

In this demonstration, we'll show the service in action, talk about the standards we're trying to establish, and illustrate the power of XML to spur innovation with several examples of interesting solutions created by developers on top of the platform.
